WTC 2025 Points Table Is Looking Interesting After South Africas Win Against Sri Lanka
South Africa registered 12 Crucial points in their account which lead them to a step closer to the finals of the World Test Championship. South beat Sri Lanka by 109 runs in the 2nd Match. One more win and they will be in the finals.
There is no surprise that they are going to be in the finals. This is the fifth consecutive win that leads them to the top of the WTC points table.
No other team can be as comfortable as South Africa now because other competitors of the points table still have to win some matches to get into the finals. Australia have to win the series, While India have to win at least 3 matches to stay in the race for WTC finals.

First innings:

In the first inning with an unwanted start of 0/1. South Africa was struggling to score even 1 run. Then Ryan Rickelton and Kyle Verreynne’s century led South Africa to not only good but also great to defend 358 runs . While Vishwa Fernando Was enjoying the pitch. Lahiru Kumara’s Contribution was very crucial in stopping South Africa at 358. But the target was not small enough to be played as child’s play. Sri Lanka was stable enough to score 150 with only 2 wicket loss. Pathum Nissanka was enjoying the pitch though other players were struggling a bit Pathum Nissanka was able to hit 11 boundaries and 1 six. But with Dane Paterson and Maharaj, with the big wicket of Nissanka South Africa was able to hold them to 328 runs.
Second innings:
The Second inning was not as terrible as the first one for South Africa but yet they had to lose their 3 wickets before touching 110 runs. But Captain Bavuma’s 66 runs and Paterson’s aggressiveness took them to a well-defendable total of 347(317+30) runs as they were leading by 30 at the beginning of 2nd innings. This time Jayasuriya helped his team by taking 5 wickets in a haul. Now the target was clear for each team. Both teams were capable enough to achieve the target.
But in this innings, South Africa was strong enough to get Sri Lanka’s first wicket at the beginning. This first wicket was hard enough to cause some damage in the Sri Lankan mindset. And that’s enough to OUT half of the Sri Lankan team before they reach 150. But there were more in the show. Kusal Mendis came on the ground and started batting at a strike rate of 100. But that was not enough to get into the race.
Keshav Maharaj Showed off his excellence to get the 5 wickets haul back and even keep the team in the game. And with the last wicket with Kumara SA stopped Sri Lanka at 238 runs. SA won the Series by a massive 109 runs, Also Tops the WTC points table.
